Why do music with Young Children?
Research shows that music taught to children at an early age encourages hand/eye co-ordination and helps to develop speech but above all it gives children confidence. In addition, it teaches them the joys of singing and movement and playing different instruments each week. Learning how to be part of a social group, how to take turn, how to listen, how to be still and most importantly how to have fun in a disciplined environment are the key elements in Jo Jingles classes.
"A child is more confident, usually speaks early and gains an early grasp of the rules of communication if started early in clapping games, group activities and musical games." - Dr Miriam Stoppard
What should my child and I expect from Jo Jingles Classes?
The aim of the classes is to enhance pre-school education by giving children a fun introduction to music and singing through actions songs, playing musical percussion instruments, movement and sound and rhythm games. Classes have a distinct educational slant, covering pre-school themes e.g. numbers, life experiences such as shopping, going to the farm etc. By dividing each 45 minute weekly session into specific age groups we are able to tailor classes to suit the children's stage of development so that they gain the maximum benefits possible.

Is there any adult participation?
Sessions are interactive, therefore adults are encouraged to participate and help their children along with the actions, and the instruments - especially the younger ones (less than 2 yrs old). It is generally the children with the most enthusiastic carers who get the most out of our classes.
What are the benefits?
We want your child to have fun and enjoy each session - music is great to share especially when the children feel they are achieving. What they don't realise is that through the music and movement they are developing their language and social skills, improving body awareness and hand/eye coordination, and growing in confidence weekly. Remember, the programmes are geared to the children, not adults. Repetition at their age is fundamental for acquiring skills.
