The Benefits of Jo Jingles

Music has an enormous part to play in a child's early development and there is growing evidence that music can also help at a later stage with subjects as diverse as mathematics, foreign languages and scientific problem solving.

"Singing songs to your child widens their vocabulary and improves listening skills, both of which make learning to read easier". Professor John Sloboda, Keel University.

"A child is more confident, usually speaks early and gains an early grasp of the rules of communication if started early in clapping games, group activities and musical games". Dr Miriam Stoppard - Child Psychologist.

Jo Jingles for special needs children

It is very rare to find an activity that all children with special needs can join in together....However that is exactly what I found when I discovered Jo Jingles. Being founder of a special needs toddler group and a parent of a Downs Syndrome little boy, I understand the importance of music, singing and movement for babies and young children.

Jo Jingles is fun....it enables each child in our group to join in, in their own way. It is a sociable activity and stimulated the desire to join in with others providing instant rewards. It can develop and generate memories for each child. We don't think of it as a therapy, but it can be. It is quality time not just for the child but for the parent/carer and child together.

The children who come to the group adore Alison and the music activity she provides...it is structured at child's level, whilst still being exciting, challenging and great fun.

If you saw the children's faces and their responses to Alison you would understand the importance of this activity.

My daughter has been going to a Jo Jingles class since she was six months old and she is 26 months old now. She is quite a shy child but really enjoys the Jo Jingles class with Julie in Middlewich, Cheshire and it has really brought her out of herself. Eleanor dances and loves playing the insturments, Julie is lovely with all the children and praises them all and you can see they all enjoy themselves, we love going, we have the DVD which we have to have on at least five times a day!!!

I run the pre-school at the above address and recently invited in Alison Wright, who runs the Jo Jingles sessions in Sandbach. All the staff and parents were amazed at her outstanding abilities to involve and direct the children through a series of musical themes. The group of 22 youngsters thoroughly enjoyed participating in the fun activity and loved the experience.

It is very encouraging to observe high quality teaching of music and rhythm to the early years sector and the provision of Jo Jingles is extremely beneficial in developing their creativity, listening skills and physical mobility. As the pace of the activity is fast and stimulating children were continually enthralled and capable of following instruction.

We will certainly be asking Alison back to our pre-school and look forward to sharing further opportunities to enhance our curriculum in the future.

What can I say - Kate's energy, enthusiasm and personality is effervescent! She’s definitely in the right job! She pitches the level perfectly and engages all the children (and adults). She also improvises effortlessly and brings lots of interesting props from home. My 4 year old can't wait for Wednesdays! Having 2 older children age 6 and 9 I have tried various other music groups for pre-schoolers and this is undoubtedly the best. Well done Kate!!! Thank you Jo Jingles.

Jo Jingles continues to run weekly here at the Staffordshire Moorlands Children’s Centre.
Alison & Kate are enthusiastic, active, committed, friendly & fun individuals and as ever Jo Jingles is a great success with our families.

The Jo Jingles session forms part of the Family Services provision here at the Children’s Centre and is supported by the Family Activity Team.

We hold two sessions a week, for families with children both under & over 18 months.
Jo Jingles supports the communication, expression & imagination of music & dance with our families. They are able to explore sounds, move to the music and march singing simple songs.
Both of the sessions are always really well run and enjoyed immensely
by children, staff and parents/cares too.

Kate & Jo Jingles have also proved very popular at our Christmas Parties.

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Family Activities Team and Children/Families here at the Staffordshire Moorlands Children’s Centre to thank Jo Jingles, Alison & Kate for their continued fun, friendly and interactive music sessions.

Kind Regards
Sarah Quinn - Family Activity Co-ordinator

Jo Jingles Fun Music & Playtime for Children with Special Needs

We are inviting all pre-school children with special needs to join us at our Jo Jingles Fun Music & Playtime.

As well as the all the known educational benefits of Jo Jingles music sessions, this is a great opportunity for the children to develop their confidence and social skills in a small group situation as well as introducing them in a fun way to concepts such as taking it turns, sharing, discipline and learning.

The programmes are carefully prepared to ensure they appeal to children of all abilities and will be progressive in their content.  Parents will be given many ideas of ways in which to have fun with music at home.

Nursery, Pre-Schools and Other Organisations

I am very keen to develop links with local pre-schools and nurseries by providing music sessions on a regular basis to offer the children of working parents the opportunity to enjoy the fun of Jo Jingles.

These sessions run for 45 minutes and are packed with lively action songs, a mix of familiar nursery rhymes and new material, two percussion instrument sections and a variety of different, stimulating props and visuals. The sessions are always very interactive, informative and fun for the children and teachers/helpers alike.

We are currently providing regular sessions at Gawsworth Pre-School, Funtime Toddlers, Littler Grange Nursery and Daintry Hall Nursery. We are also operating After School Clubs at St Mary's in Middlewich and Holmes Chapel Primary School. Additionally, we work closely with Surestart and Homestart in this area.

We can provide one-off sessions as a special treat for end of term parties, charity events or any other occasion at a very competitive rate.

If you are interested in learning more about our sessions, please telephone on 01477 535124 or email alison@ace-kidz.co.uk.
