Hello and Welcome
I am Wendy Owen-Lynch (on the right) and I have been running Jo Jingles classes for 5 years in areas covering Prestwich, Urmston, Worsley, Swinton and Eccles. My daughter Caitlin, now 6 years old. attended Jo Jingles with me from an early age. I rapidly saw the benefits my baby had gained, and also really enjoyed the classes, even though it was some distance from where we lived. That was my introduction to Jo Jingles!
Jo Jingles is the leading provider of music & movement classes for children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years in the UK and Ireland, with weekly classes in over 500 centres. There are over 25,000 children attending a Jo Jingles class each week nationwide. We are also booked by schools, playgroups, nurseries, Sure Start, play schemes and retail outlets!

WHAT IS JO JINGLES?

Our aim is to provide a fun and creative introduction to music and singing for children aged 6 months to 5 years, through a wide variety of activities. These include nursery rhymes, action songs, music & movement, playing percussion instruments, and sometimes a story. The classes have an educational slant and follow simple themes such as: numbers, animals, shapes and colours etc. For younger children singing is one of the best ways of promoting early language, and movement helps in their co-ordination development. Older children will have a gradual introduction to pitch, rhythm, dynamics, notation and musical stories.
Classes are well structured and carefully planned lasting 45 minutes, and specially designed to take into account the ability and attention span for each age group. Children are not expected to sit down for any length of time and we are aware of children’s developmental capabilities. Children in the walking – 2 classes may well wander which is fine. All we would say ask is please bring them back into the circle for the next song so they eventually begin to learn the routine and what is expected of them.
Making music as a group develops social skills. Playing instruments practices hand to eye co-ordination and moving to music develops body control and spatial awareness – the benefits of an early introduction to music are numerous. Most importantly however, whilst the children are acquiring these new skills they are just simply having a fun time!
Whilst we ensure lots of variety in our activities to engage their attention, we do rely on you to encourage your child’s participation and actively discourage them from running about or being disruptive. Jo Jingles is an ideal activity that you can both share and enjoy spending one to one time together – the more enthusiastic you are, the more likely it is that your child will enjoy the class! We welcome parents, carers, grandparents, child minders to our classes – as long as you bring at least one child with you..! |
