Hi! I’m Leigh Duke

Welcome to my Jo Jingles classes in Edinburgh, East Lothian & Mid Lothian Borders

I was first introduced to Jo Jingles by friends with children in 2006 and have taken my own daughter to classes since she was 6 months old. I saw first hand the benefits to children and thoroughly enjoyed the weekly sessions myself too. After 15 years of working in retail management and banking, I was looking for a new challenge that fitted in with my new family life. After 15 years of working in retail management and banking, I was looking for a new challenge that fitted in with my new family life. As there were no music classes in my local towns I just knew I had to take the opportunity to combine my love of children and musical skills with my business background ………so here I am!

And now after 9yrs of fun running the East Lothian & Borders classes, in 2015 I was lucky enough to takeover the Edinburgh & Midlothian classes too.  Now with a much wider area and a brilliant team of class leaders all with different ideas and suggestions to help us to keep growing and getting better!  I am very thankful to have a job I love and know the positive difference Jo Jingles makes to many children and their grown ups each week!

He is extremely friendly and actively participates in all of our classes. At the start of each session he welcomes all children with a smile, a wave and a cuddle. Then he might sing or dance or pretend to be a train driver, a monkey or even a teapot.

Sometimes he hides and we have to look for him. Sometimes he falls asleep and he needs some help to wake up. Sometimes he is shy and we have to encourage him to join in with the fun. But he always makes time for plenty of hugs and kisses when it’s time for the children to say goodbye.

MEET OUR TEACHERS

  • Meet Karen Rennie

I have been jingling in Midlothian since 2015. I attended classes with my 2 children (now 10 and 8), they loved it! and I loved meeting other parents and seeing all the children interacting and having so much fun!   Coinciding with my youngest starting school, the opportunity to become part of the team came along and I have never looked back! Seeing all the children develop and grow while having so much fun is just brilliant and meeting all the lovely parents and carers is a great added bonus, not to mention being part of a fantastic team of jingling teachers!

  • Meet Joanne Cooper

I am the newbie of the team having only started in August 2018.  However as I have Jingled with my own 3 children for 8 years on and off, the songs and actions are already well imprinted in my brain.  I was delighted when the opportunity came up as it fits around school hours and holidays as well as allowing me to have lots of fun with children and their special grown ups - what's not to love!!  There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a child begin a class or term shy and unsure, come out of their shell and knowing that you were part of helping to build that confidence.  I certainly seen this first hand with my eldest.  I am really looking forward to beginning my Jo Jingles journey and meeting all the parents and children that come along with it.

WHAT YOU’VE BEEN SAYING

I don't know who gets more excited about our weekly Jo session - me or Lucas my 18th month old son. We have been attending since he was about 5 months and it has been fantastic to watch him interact and develop new skills each week. Laura who delivers the class is brilliant and we enjoyed having a Jo Jingles 1st Birthday Party. I would recommend the class to all parents, the songs are awesome and it is a great way to get to know other mums/dads and children in the area. I am looking forward to taking my second baby along to join the fun when he/she arrives.

Lucie has been going to Jo Jingles since she was about 4 months, she loves it!!! She's gained a lot of confidence and has also learned to share and co-operate with others, it's amazing to watch her. We have the CD and DVD in the house, she enjoys singing along and showing the family all her new moves. Lucie had a Jo Jingles Birthday party for her 1st Birthday and ALL her little friends had lots of fun, Jo and Lesley made my wee princess really happy on her very special Birthday. I have told all my mummy friends about Jo and would recommend to everyone.

My eldest daughter has been a ‘Jo Jingler’ since she was a few months old, and still loves her Jo Jingles class now she is 4. Jo Jingles has given her a real love for music and movement, and has helped her learn how to make friends and have fun with other children. The songs at Jo Jingles are original and funny, so the class is a giggle for grown-ups too. And because the programme and themes are always changing, Jo Jingles never gets boring.

I started Jo Jingles with my daughter Charlotte last year (I was also 8 months pregnant) as a way for us to integrate in to the local community and for her to develop her love of song and instruments. My youngest Isla, has been attending since she was 9 days old. Both absolutely love going every week and miss it so much during the holidays. I have seen Charlotte's confidence grow ten-fold, she knows all the songs and runs her own Jo Jingles sessions at home, “Mummy I am 'Leigh' (our teacher) today”. The development I have seen in Isla in her 14 months is amazing, she independently goes to get her instrument from the box and follows Leigh's every move, singing and clapping along to the songs. As a family we have a great time at Jo Jingles and I love the fact we can do it all at home and in the car too. We have all made lots of friends at Jo Jingles :-)
The teachers are enthusiastic and take time to learn each child's little quirks and make sure everyone is involved in each class.

Niamh (3yrs 3mths) and I have been going to Jo Jingles since she was 18 months old and I am proud to say she has never missed a class. We go to a few different classes and groups but Jo Jingles day is definitely the favourite day of our week. The structure and activities of the classes have helped develop Niamh’s confidence and I have loved watching how she has changed during the classes since we started going. It has helped her develop skills in movement, rhythm, counting and singing as well as sharing, interactions and rules and routines. We all love the music and have several of the CD’s and the DVD and Niamh loves running Jo Jingles classes at home for her toys. Niamh has a little sister now (Orla, 3 months) and she is already coming to the classes with us. I cannot recommend these classes highly enough to other parents and know we will be attending for years to come.

Dear Jinglers Everywhere,

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation and guidelines provided by the Government and Public Health England* ( & all other relevant Regional Public Health agencies) our customers and class teacher safety and well-being is absolutely paramount.

Sadly, in view of the most recent news and recommendations Jo Jingles classes are now TEMPORARILY CLOSED in ALL areas.

However, you can still enjoy Jo Jingles @ Home – many of our Jingle areas are now offering fun online music sessions so contact your local Jo Jingles representative for further details either via Facebook or https://www.jojingles.com/find-class

If there’s not one available in your area at this time do take a look online to see where you can join another online session in our Network https://www.jojingles.com/find-class.

During this very difficult time we want to support families at home and provide some musical fun and entertainment for children.

If you would like to also stock up on musical goodies to accompany the sessions visit Jo’s Shop at https://www.jojingles.com/shop – it’s business as usual, at this time, for all online orders received.

This situation is evolving rapidly, and we will keep you updated if things change but in the meantime we are continuing to follow all necessary health and safety guidelines.

We’ll also shortly be announcing some NEW and exciting Jingle products too!

We will really miss all of our lovely ‘jinglers’ but hope to see you & all your friends again very soon,

A huge THANK YOU for your ongoing support.

Keep safe and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.

Best wishes

Jo Jingles xx
