Hi! I’m Val Chandler

Welcome to Jo Jingles classes in Beaconsfield, Hedgerley & Marlow Bottom

Little did I know that when I started running music classes in April 1993 I would still be doing so this many years later!

From a very young age I knew that I wanted to teach in some capacity, and that it had to involve music! Following Music College, in 1980 I became a Primary School teacher with responsibility for music. Little did I know that when I started running music classes in April 1993 I would still be doing so this many years later!

From a very young age I knew that I wanted to teach in some capacity, and that it had to involve music! Following Music College, in 1980 I became a Primary School teacher with responsibility for music. In July 1986 I stopped teaching to have the first of my three children, and when the youngest was three, I started running pre-school music classes.  I found that I was having much more fun doing music with such young children than in my previous role, plus my growing business fitted in perfectly around my own children!

All three of my children were exposed to music before birth, and have all shown themselves to be musical in various ways since - my two daughters learnt piano and then moved on to ballet and modern jazz dance classes, and my son took up the drums at twelve and is now an excellent drummer, who plays in a band and also gives drum tuition. My youngest daughter is a full time nanny working with a number of families, and brings her various charges to classes whenever she can. I also work in a number of special needs settings with children and young adults with various learning and physical disabilities, which I find very rewarding and inspiring.

He is extremely friendly and actively participates in all of our classes. At the start of each session he welcomes all children with a smile, a wave and a cuddle. Then he might sing or dance or pretend to be a train driver, a monkey or even a teapot.

Sometimes he hides and we have to look for him. Sometimes he falls asleep and he needs some help to wake up. Sometimes he is shy and we have to encourage him to join in with the fun. But he always makes time for plenty of hugs and kisses when it’s time for the children to say goodbye.

I started taking Lily to Alison's class summer term 2016. She loves it - I can't sing the songs at home because she runs straight to the door wanting to go back! We do four other classes or toddler groups, but Jo Jingles is her absolute favourite, and I can't sing Alison’s praises highly enough.

I came along for a taster session with my oldest daughter Edith almost three years ago and we have rarely missed a week since then. We now come along as a threesome since my younger daughter Ivy was born two years ago. Val creates a friendly, welcoming and secure environment for everyone. My girls have both grown in confidence and thoroughly enjoy participating throughout the weekly sessions. Ivy has come along since she was less than a week old and I'm sure will continue to come to the summer holiday sessions when she goes to school. We all love Val's amazing Jo Jingle groups!

Just a quick word to let you know how much Millie and I enjoy your class. I can't think of a better way to spend my Tuesday morning than to sit with my granddaughter, singing and playing instruments and that's only a part of what you do. Your sessions are so well balanced and a delight to be a part of. You obviously put a lot of thought and work into each sessions which are individually planned. Keep it up Val, you are brilliant...!
Very best regards, Anita Lawrie
Jo Jingles in Beaconsfield with Val was my two children's staple diet collectively for over 5 years, especially with my youngest having Downs Syndrome.
It was the most amazing time for both my little girls. Although the structure of Jo Jingles in itself is great for young children, Val in particular was what made Jo Jingles great. She is MY ambassador for Jo Jingles - she loves all the children and that brings out the best in them.
Jo Jingles has helped make who my children are now, and they are perfect. Thanks Val.

Jo Jingles (via Val Chandler) has been part of Marlow Opportunity Playgroup for very many years (since May 2008) The children respond so beautifully to the wide range of interactive songs and it is amazing to see how gradually over the weeks they join in with the actions. Some children are anxious initially when they experience the parachute or stretchy fabric songs but they all enjoy this activity after a few sessions. Val gets to know the children and their diverse needs so quickly and all credit to her as she adapts her session to cater for the individual children. Without exception, all our children love their weekly Jo Jingles sessions and the smiles on their faces is proof of this. Thank you Val!

Back in 2011 I took my son to Jo Jingles in Marlow Bottom for a few years and he loved it. We both loved how Alison really joined in and I especially liked the encouragement from Alison to get my son involved. Fast forward a few years ……..and I now take my daughter to Jo Jingles in Beaconsfield with Val (as the day and time suits better now I have my son at school) I have to say that my daughter really, really loves it - she is always singing the "good morning" song and she is definitely missing the classes not being on over summer. Like Alison did, Val gets involved and encourages all the children and each week it is a different theme.
I admit I tried a couple of other groups with my daughter, but they did not live up to the Jo Jingles standard, hence why I still take my daughter to Jo Jingles.

My son has attended Jo Jingles in Forty Green for 3 years. He loves each session!! It's improved his confidence, attention span, memory and friendship skills whilst he's had an absolute ball. The whole family has been to Jo Jingles and remembers it with fond memories.
I also highly recommend their parties. We've used them at 2 and 3 years old and the effort Val made to make the party fit our theme was unbelievable.
Traditional, fun and creative classes - a true hit in our house.
